This Cookie Policy explains what cookies are, which cookies and related browser storage Drashtikon Publication uses, why we use them, and how you can control or delete them. Please read this policy alongside our Privacy Policy for a complete picture of how we handle your data.

1. What Are Cookies?

Cookies are small text files that are placed on your computer, smartphone, or other device when you visit a website. They are widely used to make websites work more efficiently, to remember your preferences, and to provide website owners with information about how their site is being used.

Cookies do not contain executable code and cannot carry viruses or install malware. They are not files that can access or read data on your device beyond what the website has stored.

There are different types of cookies based on their origin and lifespan:

First-party cookies — set directly by the website you are visiting.
Third-party cookies — set by a domain other than the one you are visiting (e.g. advertising or analytics providers).
Session cookies — temporary cookies deleted when you close your browser.
Persistent cookies — remain on your device for a set period or until you delete them.

2. How We Use Cookies

Drashtikon Publication keeps its use of cookies to a minimum. We use them to:

Ensure the website functions correctly and securely.
Maintain your browsing session and protect form submissions against cross-site request forgery (CSRF).

We do not require you to create an account, and we do not use cookies to build personal profiles for targeted advertising. We do not sell cookie data to third parties. We use Google Analytics 4 to understand how visitors use our website, with IP anonymisation enabled so that your full IP address is never received by Google.

3. Cookies We Use

Our own session cookie is set with the SameSite=Lax attribute, and is transmitted only over a secure HTTPS connection on our live website. It is deleted by your browser when you close it, and the matching record on our server is removed by an automated clean-up process. See Section 9 of our Privacy Policy for details on what the session record contains and how long it is kept.

4. Browser Storage We Use (Not Cookies)

In addition to cookies, our website uses standard browser storage. These are not cookies, they are not sent to our servers with your requests, and they remain on your own device. We list them here for transparency.

5. Service Worker and Installable App

Our website is a Progressive Web App. When you visit, your browser registers a small background script called a service worker. It caches our home page for offline fallback and, if you have granted permission, receives push notifications. The service worker does not read your cookies, does not track your browsing, and cannot access anything outside this website.

Supported browsers may also offer to install our website as an app on your device. Installing is optional and does not change what data we collect. You can remove the service worker, its cache, and any installed app at any time — see Section 7.

6. Third-Party Services in Detail

6.1 YouTube (Embedded Videos)

Our video pages and live stream player embed YouTube videos. When you play a YouTube video, YouTube (operated by Google LLC) may set cookies on your device. These cookies are subject to Google's Privacy Policy. For videos that are embedded to play automatically, we use YouTube's privacy-enhanced youtube-nocookie.com mode; on individual video pages the standard YouTube player is used.

6.2 Google Fonts & Font Awesome

Our website loads web fonts from Google Fonts and the Font Awesome icon library from Cloudflare's cdnjs service. These do not set cookies on your device, but your browser makes a request to their servers, which may log your IP address and browser information as part of normal web operations.

6.3 Google Analytics (GA4)

We use Google Analytics 4 (provided by Google LLC) to collect anonymous data about how visitors use this website — such as pages viewed, time spent, and the general region you are visiting from. IP anonymisation (anonymize_ip: true) is enabled, meaning Google never receives your full IP address. Data is processed by Google in accordance with Google's Privacy Policy. You can opt out of Google Analytics tracking at any time using the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.

6.4 Google AdSense

We display advertising supplied by Google AdSense. Google and its partners may set cookies or use similar technologies to serve advertisements and measure their performance. You can review and adjust your advertising preferences at Google My Ad Center, and read more in Google's advertising policy.

7. Managing Your Cookies, Storage and Notifications

You can control and manage cookies through your browser settings. Most browsers allow you to:

View what cookies are stored and delete them individually or in bulk.
Block cookies from all websites or specific websites.
Set preferences for first-party and third-party cookies separately.
Receive a notification before a cookie is placed.

To clear the browser storage and service worker described in Sections 4 and 5:

Use your browser's "Clear site data" or "Delete data" option for this website. This removes local storage, session storage, the offline cache, and the service worker registration in one step.
To stop push notifications, open your browser's site settings for this website and set notifications to "Block" or "Ask".
If you installed our website as an app, you can uninstall it through your operating system in the same way as any other app.

Please note: Disabling essential cookies may prevent form submissions such as the contact form from working correctly, but reading articles will still work. Blocking third-party cookies will not affect article reading; it mainly affects embedded YouTube videos. Clearing site data will reset your notification and install prompt preferences, so those prompts may appear again.

8. Do Not Track

Some browsers include a "Do Not Track" (DNT) feature that signals websites not to track your activity. Currently, there is no universal standard for how websites should respond to DNT signals. We will update this policy if a standard is established.

9. Cookie Consent

By continuing to use the Drashtikon Publication website, you consent to our use of cookies as described in this policy. You may withdraw consent at any time by adjusting your browser settings as described in Section 7 above. Please note that withdrawing consent may affect your experience on the website. Push notifications are separate: they are never enabled unless you explicitly grant permission.
