Cookie Policy
This Cookie Policy explains what cookies are, what types of cookies Drashtikon Publication uses, why we use them, and how you can control or delete them. Please read this policy alongside our Privacy Policy for a complete picture of how we handle your data.
1. What Are Cookies?
Cookies are small text files that are placed on your computer, smartphone, or other device when you visit a website. They are widely used to make websites work more efficiently, to remember your preferences, and to provide website owners with information about how their site is being used.
Cookies do not contain executable code and cannot carry viruses or install malware. They are not files that can access or read data on your device beyond what the website has stored.
There are different types of cookies based on their origin and lifespan:
- First-party cookies — set directly by the website you are visiting.
- Third-party cookies — set by a domain other than the one you are visiting (e.g. advertising or analytics providers).
- Session cookies — temporary cookies deleted when you close your browser.
- Persistent cookies — remain on your device for a set period or until you delete them.
2. How We Use Cookies
Drashtikon Publication uses cookies to:
- Ensure the website functions correctly and securely.
- Maintain your session and protect form submissions against cross-site request forgery (CSRF).
- Improve the speed, reliability, and overall performance of the website.
We do not currently use cookies to build personal profiles for targeted advertising, we do not run third-party analytics platforms such as Google Analytics, and we do not sell cookie data to third parties.
3. Types of Cookies We Use
4. Third-Party Services in Detail
4.1 YouTube (Embedded Videos)
Some of our articles and our videos section contain embedded YouTube videos. When you play a YouTube video, YouTube (operated by Google LLC) may set cookies on your device. These cookies are subject to Google's Privacy Policy. We use YouTube's privacy-enhanced embed mode where possible to minimise tracking before you interact with a video.
4.2 Google Fonts & Font Awesome
Our website loads fonts and icons from Google Fonts and the Font Awesome CDN. These services do not set cookies on your device, but your browser makes a request to their servers, which may log your IP address and browser information as part of normal web operations.
5. Related Browser Storage (Not Cookies)
In addition to cookies, our website uses the following browser storage mechanisms. These are not cookies, but we mention them here for transparency:
- Push notification subscriptions: If you opt in to browser notifications, the browser stores a service-worker registration and we store a subscription endpoint on our servers. No personal cookies are set for this. See our Privacy Policy for details.
- Local storage: We use a small amount of
localStorageto remember whether you have already responded to the push notification opt-in prompt (dn_push_subscribed,dn_push_dismissed) so we do not show it repeatedly. - Advertisement click logs: When you click an advertisement, our server logs the click for performance reporting. This logging does not set any new cookie on your device.
6. Managing Your Cookie Preferences
You can control and manage cookies through your browser settings. Most browsers allow you to:
- View what cookies are stored and delete them individually or in bulk.
- Block cookies from all websites or specific websites.
- Set preferences for first-party and third-party cookies separately.
- Receive a notification before a cookie is placed.
Instructions for the most common browsers:
- Google Chrome: Settings → Privacy and Security → Cookies and other site data
- Mozilla Firefox: Options → Privacy & Security → Cookies and Site Data
- Apple Safari: Preferences → Privacy → Manage Website Data
- Microsoft Edge: Settings → Privacy, Search and Services → Cookies and site permissions
7. Do Not Track
Some browsers include a "Do Not Track" (DNT) feature that signals websites not to track your activity. Currently, there is no universal standard for how websites should respond to DNT signals. We will update this policy if a standard is established.
8. Cookie Consent
By continuing to use the Drashtikon Publication website, you consent to our use of cookies as described in this policy. You may withdraw consent at any time by adjusting your browser settings as described in Section 6 above. Please note that withdrawing consent may affect your experience on the website.
